pals walk sixty eight miles to elevate funds for remedy

ATLANTA -- 5 fraternity brothers are making a new holiday tradition with their march from Atlanta to Athens, Ga. - a event that began Friday.
Their goal: to elevate money for breast cancer analysis after dropping a person they loved.
"We're simply starting our experience here," Scott Berta talked about.
it's going to take 25 hours for Berta and his fraternity brothers to make the walk.
"We're all pretty tons simply coming off the sofa and jogging 68 miles," he observed.
and they won't be on my own on their march.
"we now have people who're jumping in for two, three, four or 15 miles right here and there to aid us out alongside the way," Berta said.
He started the subculture in 2015 after his pledge brother's spouse died of breast melanoma.
Julie Bellem had walked the Susan G. Komen 60 Mile March and dedicated her existence to raising cash and cognizance to battle the ailment.
"we now have a 37-pound sandbag to symbolize her time here, 37 years when she passed," Berta observed.
On their GoFundMe web page, the brothers explain that they gained't cease on their trek because cancer patients under no circumstances get a destroy from their combat.
"we've check facets that we'll cease for 20, 30 minutes," Berta referred to. "We'll restock, refuel, food. but there is no stopping. There aren't any inn rooms; we're going straight via."
In 2015, they raised $9,000. For 2016, the group already has up to $11,000 and that they're hoping more people will contribute alongside the manner.
"We in fact hope to get more donations whereas we're doing it," Berta mentioned. "We'll be 'fb live-ing', Instagramming, social media. Making people privy to what we're doing, how we're doing."
Berta observed the entire cash raised will go to discover a remedy.
"we are here for every woman that has fought or misplaced with melanoma," he observed.
