United in red helps households littered with breast melanoma

A Macon company offers components for families plagued by breast melanoma. For over nine years, United in red has helped greater than 500 breast cancer survivors and spouse and children with a weeklong summer time camp.
Director Laura Paxton says her mom is a 13-yr survivor of breast melanoma. United in red changed into created as a aid system for family members and survivors.
Paxton pointed out, "When she was diagnosed, i was 30 years historic, so you may now not suppose i'm a baby of a survivor that might have wants, however our lives were modified, our routines were changed."
infants ages four to 18 attend the camp. on the camp, they make arts and crafts projects, dance, and sing to have a good time how far the survivors have come. The theme this week is "Shine."
Paxton spoke of, "We desire everybody to shine and to be a light-weight. If that means being a light-weight to a person in a brand new friendship or historical friendship, we are all right here together for a pretty good week of enjoyable."
Volunteer Taylor Nelson has volunteered for the previous five years. She says her family unit hasn't been suffering from breast melanoma, however she has discovered lots from the camp.
Nelson referred to, "I think like it has fashioned me to really suppose about other people apart from myself and how this affects different households and youngsters."
United in pink is on facebook and are selling tickets for an August fundraising event on their web site Unitedinpink.org.
