A Charlotte company with ties to UNC-Charlotte is advertising a brand new scientific check designed to support monitor girls for breast melanoma.   WFAE's Mark Rumsey reports.

Mark Rumsey reports on a brand new breast cancer screening method being marketed by a Charlotte company.

Researchers at UNC-Charlotte agree with they've developed a method to detect breast cancer it really is more advantageous than mammograms.  it's a blood screening that in all probability most exceptionally detects melanoma in ladies who've dense breast tissue.  average mammograms regularly leave out those tumors.

"there's no certain-shot, one-bullet check at the moment," says Mukherjee.  "We feel that our verify may well be an adjunct to different imaging, but there's no one test."

OncoTAb says women who wish to use the enterprise's blood screening know-how to video display for breast melanoma will want a physician's prescription, beneath FDA laws.  A spokeswoman for the FDA says the agency can not comment on OncoTAb's screening technology.  The FDA has allowed some labs to present such checks without federal approval.
