WAUSAU - more than 1,100 people came collectively in downtown Wausau Sunday to take strides against breast melanoma and to remember folks that died from the ailment.
Attendees and sponsors of the Komen principal Wisconsin Race for the treatment raised upwards of $125,000 during the event — funds that may be spent locally on girls's health and breast melanoma features, as well as on national research, in response to Sandy Draeger, who helped organize the gathering.
The seventh annual fundraiser covered a 5K run and walk and a one-mile walk. The 5K began on Fourth highway in front of The Grand theater, simply across from The four hundred Block park, the place members converged.

closing SlideNext SlideBreast melanoma survivors were awarded medallions at the conclude line, but volunteer Suzy Klimek of Wausau, a nine-year survivor, provided them an additional gift: hugs.
"We're all combatants," Klimek observed. "You must reside wonderful. You've got to be round tremendous americans. and you've received to give hugs. Hugs are invaluable and the choicest present you can give to a fellow survivor."
next year's race is scheduled for Aug. 13, 2017.
